- Strata - "As part of the Whau Festival last year I had the privilege of working with Avondale Primary School’s eco-warriors (Rm18) to produce a work about their neighbourhood. We engaged with our physical surroundings to understand Avondale. With commotion often happening above ground, the purpose of this project was to draw attention to what lies below the surface. The eco-warriors began by collecting materials in sites around Avondale by walking and exploring together. To make sense of our findings the children constructed a giant map referencing home. A sculpture was made with materials, information, and stories gathered which was then translated into a billboard installation for the Whau Festival as a window into their sense of place." (Lea)

- Poppy's River, Woolly Nightshade - This project is a time based exploration that opened up via my direct engagement with a community. Kaeo is a small flood-prone township in the far north of New Zealand. In this place I have built new relations that have guided me and at the same time have questioned my authorial presence. Poppy’s river is a real site in the landscape, I visited here numerous times with the Noe family. This cove along the Whangaroa river is where I came across the original geodes. These are stones containing circular formations of different coloured rock and galena fragments. This object for me acted as a metaphor, and so a workshop took place in two parts during the winter, where I presented a group of children from Whangaroa College with raw materials to make their own version of these geodes found in the river that runs through Kaeo. This series speaks of my interactions with this landscape and the perceptions of my collaborators.
